Conversely, the Kama Sutra would be a manual, containing only text and classy with a pocket size is presented as a "lifestyle guide for modern man and woman". "Until now the Kama Sutra is always presented as, '60 scandal, the influence of sex book porn," says Editorial Director of Penguin Books Alexis Kirschbaum.

"But it was originally written as advice to a man politely about how to live the life of the round, not just the passionate life," he said again.

Kama Sutra is believed to have been written in the third century by Vatsyayana. Google Trial Car Without Driver

Google has built a car that can drive themselves without a driver. This car was last tested on more than 100 thousand miles on public roads and almost no significant obstacles.

The experiment, conducted in San Francisco by car Toyota Prius, and almost zero-accident. Single accident that happened was when the car was bumped from behind by another vehicle at traffic lights.

This is the latest development in an effort to design an accident-free vehicles. Currently, many vehicles have a parking system advanced and applied from other technologies that aim to prevent collisions.

Car without driver is run with the help of a video camera mounted on the roof. with a radar sensor technology, laser finder will be able to detect traffic in front of him.
Before the run, the route has been determined in advance and was first mapped by a "driver".

According to Sebastian Thrun, a software engineer behind this project, a number of cars has taken part in the experiment that has successfully traveled 140 thousand miles.

According to the World Health Organization, 1.2 million people were killed on the highway around the world every year. The majority of accidents, they say, is due to human error (human error).

"We believe our technology has the potential to reduce that number, perhaps as much as half," Thrun wrote in his blog.

Fun Ideas For the Holidays

  1. Have a humorous gift exchange at work. This works great if you have a healthy humor climatDavid Bowie Halloween CostumeImage by christeeeeeena via Flickre at work where people use humor in a positive way.
  2. Just before the holidays, encourage people to bring some of their favorite ethnic holiday treats to work. Coming from a Norwegian background, I'd bring rosettes, fatigmand and lefse.
  3. Decorate a tree for the holidays with a humorous flair. For example, a car dealership could decorate a tree using car parts.
  4. Save the holiday cards you receive this year and "recycle" them next year. Just cross out the sender's signature, sign your name, and mail it back to the person who gave it to you. You'll start a humorous tradition.
  5. Look for opportunities to take a funny photo of yourself or your family. Then use it on a photo holiday greeting card. I've sent a photo card sharing my Halloween costume as a power-nerd.
  6. Create your own customized gift wrap. For example, on a large-sheet photo copier you could make personalized wrapping paper decorated with family photos.
  7. Wrap a holiday gift in a "nest of boxes" (a small box in a larger box, in a larger box, etc.). when the large box is opened by the recipient, the box inside is addressed to someone else. And the next box is addressed to someone else! The final box indicates who really receives the gift_a "musical chairs" style of gift exchange
  8. Make extra effort to guarantee that your holiday party is FUN. People won't remember the chicken dinner a year from now. But they'll always remember when they've had a great time. Your investment making sure the event is entertaining gives you great returns in goodwill.
  9. Assign a committee to prepare some holiday fun. Write a script filled with humor about the coTrevor Linden Halloween CostumeImage by VancityAllie via Flickrmpany and people you work with. Write a song parody of one of your favorite holiday tunes which is a tribute to your workplace. Present it at a holiday party_or post it on a bulletin board at the office.
  10. Remember the true sprit of the holidays_is the season to be jolly! Decorate your face with a smile and share it with others.

The bartender, a little surprisedBartender making pitcher of piƱa coladas at Image via Wikipedia lines up the glasses and pours them out, assuming his mates are just round the corner. The man then, calm as a coma, knocks each shot back one after the other. The bartenders, amazed by this feat of drinking turns to the man and goes “that’s a big effort.” The man replies “you would drink quickly too if you had what I’ve got.” Curiously the bartender asks “what have you got mate” to which the man replies “no money.”

A neutron walks into a bar and orders a drink and asks the bartender how much? The bartender replies “no charge”

A man, after having 27 drinks at a nightclub decides to head home, grabs his car keys and heads to the car park. Struggling to walk, he finally gets to his car, takes him 3 goes to get the keys into the ignition, reverses into the car park wall and drives straight through the boom gate. Realising his wife is at home waiting for him, a decides to drive as fast as possible, swerving across the road erratically. A police car see’s this and pulls him over. The copper asks the man “mate do you know how fast you were going?” The man replies “How the fuck would I know, I’ve just had 27 drinks.”

A rabbi, a sheik and a priest all walk into a bar together holding hands singing “hari-krishna.” The bartender says to them “what is this some kind of bad joke?”

A penguin walks into a bar and with a sense of urgency asks the bar man “sir have you seen my brother, he’s missing and I can’t find him” to which the bar man replies “what does he look like?”

A man walks into a bar, and furiously yells ”all bouncer’s are assholes!!!” A man at the end of the bar stands up, slams his drink on the bar and yells “you better fucking take that back.” Shocked, the man says “why, are you a bouncer?” to which he replies “no… I’m an asshole.”

A cop is staking out a bar for drunk drivers. At closing time, he sees a guy stumble out of the bar, trip on the curb, and fumble for his keys for five minutes. Meanwhile, everybody else leaves the bar and drives off. When he finally pulls away, the cop is waiting for him, pulls him over, and gives him a Breathalyzer test. The test shows he has a blood alcohol level of 0.0. The cop says, How is this possible? The guy says “I’m the designated decoy”

 6 Scariest Places in America

With Halloween coming up quickly, everyone starts scrambling to find something spooky to do for the holiday.  With all of the emphasis on this site about funny and amazing things, we have to include a post about the 6 scariest places in America.  For the truly daring, you can head here for a few Halloween scares.  Each of these places is not your standard haunted house, but rather places were supernatural activity has been proven, at least to a point.  These items are presented in no particular order, and permission must be gained to visit each location.

The Winchester Mansion1.  The Winchester Mansion

The fabled Winchester Mansion is considered to be one of the most haunted places in the United States.  Under construction for 38 years, the owner, Sarah Winchester (of Winchester gun fame) continuously built on the house because she thought it was haunted by the many people who were killed by the rifles.  It has doors leading out of the upper levels, stairs that end in ceilings, hallways that shrink as you go down them, and a slew of other creepy features.  There are tours offered to this scary local and it is considered to be one of the best Halloween attractions in the United States.

Haunted Salem Mass.2.  Salem Massachusetts

Very few will need to be introduced to this city since it is one of the homes of the famous Salem Witch Trials.  The city of Salem itself has capitalized on the fame and notoriety of the trials with a slew of witchcraft stores and attractions, but the historical sites are where the true horror can be seen.  The cities of Salem, Ipswich, and Andover all saw trials beginning in 1692, and before it would end, several people would be hung, crushed to death, set on fire, or drowned while trying to expel the black arts from the area.  You can still feel the spectral presence of paranoia in the entire area, especially at night.  For many, touring the high number of historical sites found around the area will help many find a truly horrifying experience.  If nothing else, the number of fun tourist attractions will help make the trip worth wild.

The LaLaurie House3.  LaLaurie House

When it comes to haunted locations, no city in the United States can compete with New Orleans.  Home to a number of different spooks and ghouls, this haunted mansion has a history of brutal slavery dating back generations.  Madame Lalaurie would treat here slaves viciously, chaining one to the stove in the kitchen to ensure his meals were prepared.  Others were killed through cruel treatment and buried in shallow graves on the estate.  After a fire broke out in the home, their cruelty became apparent.  In the locked attic, firefighters found several slaves, each of which were in a terrible conditions.  Some were chained to walls, others were held in cages, some were even secured to operating tables.  Along with the whole slaves were random body parts found throughout the attic.  While some were dead, others were merely tortured in deliberate fashions to stave off death.  When compared to the rest of the French Quarter, this is truly or horrific site.

Athens Lunatic Asylum4.  Athens Lunatic Asylum

When it comes to the horrifying and macabre scary places in America, few can compare to the Athens Lunatic Asylum.  This location, found in Athens, Ohio, is known to be an established location of paranormal activity believed to be associated with the many actions that took place while the actual asylum was in operation.  Included in the horrible things that occurred here are the birth of the lobotomy procedure (where a part of the brain is destroyed to help improve a mental condition), a never-fading stain from an older dead women (the stain has yet to disappear from the spot of her death), and the many insane and mentally unstable Civil War veterans, criminals found to be insane, and others in an insecure metal state who died in the facility.  Many of those individuals were also buried in a cemetery found on premises.

Cave of the Bell Witch5. The Bell Witch Cave

Not too many have heard of the Bell Witch Cave, but those who have can tell it is a very scary place.  Located in Adams, Tenn., the Bell Witch Cave is believed to be the final resting place of the fabled Bell Witch, a women who haunted the Bell family over a long period of time, apparently even causing some of their deaths.  Included in her stalkings are a number of different events, including clawing and scratches, strange noises through all hours of the night, even illnesses striking, eventually taking some of their lives.  Andrew Jackson even considered the event important enough to investigate, leading him to experience the phenomenon itself.  The witch, who was apparently a neighbor who had bad business dealings with the family, is believed to have either practiced in this 490 ft. cave, fled here and died when others began investigating, or is still living there, almost 200 years later.

Waverly Hills Sanatorium6.  Waverly Hills Sanatorium

Located in Louisville, Ky., the Waverly Hills Sanatorium is considered to be one of the most haunted hospitals found in the world.  Started as a hospital for those afflicted with tuberculosis, a then incurable disease of the lungs, various, and sometime horrific, treatments were administered on patients.  In all, over its years of operation, more than 8,000 people are believed to have died in its walls, either from the treatments or the disease itself.  Early estimation were greatly sensationalized, leading to many people speculating that more than 80,000 people had met their end in the hospital.   The development of medicines for the disease led to the hospitals closure.  Going here now, which tours are provided, a person will experience odd sounds, shadow people walking the halls, doors closing and opening on their own, and a generally horrifying atmosphere, especially in the morgue and the solarium.  This place was so bad, even a nurse committed suicide in one of the rooms.  A truly scary place to be found in America.

Celebrate Your Bad Meetings

How do you define a good meeting? If it is just getting the other dudes to “say yes” or making the sale at all costs, you might be doing longer term damage to your business goals. Perhaps it’s time to embrace and celebrate “bad” meetings.
Well, at least that’s the contention of Dan Burrier in the Harvard Business Review. In it, Burrier asserts that “very often, it is disagreement, discomfort, “no,” and a complete lack of classic salesmanship that truly moves the ball forward.” As a result, he suggests making room for bad meetings in your tactical plans.
What does he mean by this? Success isn’t just about the meeting, because we’re not paid to have good meetings — the meeting is a means to an end. If you make the sale but do it in a way that compromises your long-term business relationship, that’s not success. But if you come out of a meeting that generated disagreement and discomfort — but it eventually gets you closer to your business goals — that is a reason to celebrate.
To that end, Burrier has five suggestions for honing your meetings:
  • Celebrate meetings in which you can measure success — sales, agreements, etc — only if the ball actually moves forward.
  • Celebrate “bad” meetings in which people disagree and nothing appears to get agreed on or accomplished. Sometimes success takes more than a single meeting.
  • Disinvite people who want to attend your meeting but who are there only because of a senJon and CelineImage by janeybones via Flickrse of entitlement or organizational territorialism.
  • Clearly define the purpose of the meeting both in the meeting agenda on the day of the meeting and in the original invite. That will help ensure the right people attend and the wrong people don’t.
  • Remember that real success is iterative. You can’t move mountains in a single meeting, and if it looks like that’s what happened, it’s probably too good to be true.

How E-Commerce Merchants Can Benefit From Managed Hosting Solutions

Managed hosting solutions providers can offer e-commerce merchants and their consumers various benefits in terms of reliability, security, and compliance with regulatory standards. This is why acquiring the services of a hosting provider should not only be considered as an option, but deemed as necessary.
With millions of e-commerce sites that conduct transactions on a daily basis, important factors such as data security, credit card authentication, and response rates must not be overlooked. These factors establish the credibility and potential success of an online business, and being able to address these issues in the most immediate manner possible can lessen the potential for headaches in the future.
By acquiring the services of a managed hosting provider, e-commerce merchants can spend less time worrying about their IT system and focus on fulfilling their core business objectives or making a profit. For small businesses, standard components such as secure storage, email, and data recovery methods can be implemented. On the other hand, more established enterprises can benefit from the maintenance and management of databases as well as complex systems and applications.
Aside from implementing sound business management solutions, hosting service providers can also help e-commerce merchants attain their PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliance validation, an important certification for sites that conduct card transactions.
It is recommended that e-commerce clients choose a service provider that offers a comprehensive package of managed hosting solutions. Businesses that operate this way get to enjoy lower costs on technical staff training and maintenance costs.
GSI Hosting offers comprehensive managed hosting solutions to help clients create and maintain a secure and efficient IT infrastructure. As a result, e-commerce merchants, the direct clients of GSI Hosting, are able to attain certification imposed by several regulatory industries. Aside from these, businesses can also choose from different hosting models offered by GSIHosting such as remote management and dedicated hosting. For more information, visit GSIHosting.com or call 888-952-4888.

Online Payment Processing - Get Your Business Online

Setting up a website for your business is a great marketing tool. It allows you to let people know what's going on with your business and keeps your customers and potential customers up-to-date on new products and specials that you're offering. But adding an e-commerce aspect to your website takes your website to another level and shows the world that you're ready for the big time. Online payment processing is a key aspect to setting up e-commerce on your website, and setting up our payment page is your first step towards tapping into a new customer base that could potentially send your profits soaring.
People like buying stuff online. It's an unparalleled convenience to be able to order a product from the comfort of your own home and just go about your daily business until that product is delivered right to your doorstep. The more you offer online, the more likely people are to purchase multiple items in order to reach the purchase quota for free shipping or other bulk purchase incentives. If you play your cards right, using e-commerce can increase your business in ways that you never imagined possible. And since you're using online payment processing, collecting your payment is easier than ever.
But in order to get started, you need to first make sure that your business is prepared to launch an e-commerce endeavor. Start with making sure that you have a merchant bank account that's in good standing. If your business is too small to warrant opening a merchant account, then you may want to enlist the help of independent sales companies that specialize in merchant services for small businesses.
Once you get your bank account ready, it's time to choose an online payment processing company to help you set up the e-commerce side of your business. Make sure that you have a clear understanding of your needs, though. There are online payment processing companies that excel at helping small businesses get online, and others that are more geared towards helping more established businesses. If you're going to choose the right company, then you need to have a clear view of where your business stands now and what your business goals are for the future. With that in mind, you'll stand a much better chance of choosing the right online payment processing company from the get-go.

Increase Reading Comprehension Through Selective Attention

The last time I thought much about my reading comprehension, I was an engineering student, feeling overwhelmed by 18 credit hours worth of textbooks. But though I’m long graduated from college, I find that I still have a massive amount of reading to do. And improving my reading comprehension would be a wonderful way to increase my productivity and effectiveness.
That’s why I was intrigued by an article at Dumb Little Man which promised to massively increase your reading comprehension.
Let’s get this out of the way right off the bat: That’s way over-promising. But the strategy definitely has potential, and does indeed work. Perhaps just not massively. Before we talk about the particular strategy, let’s watch a video:

If you’ve never seen this sort of video test before, you might be amazed at how easy it is to miss even stunningly obvious things if you’re watching passively or paying attention to the wrong stuff.
And this video is an excellent metaphor for reading a management book: With so much going on, it’s impossible to observe and retain anything of substance unless you choose a particular focus area and pay attention to it.
So, with that said, Dumb Little Man recommends that when you start a new book, you do this:
  1. On an index card, write your purpose for reading the book.
  2. Review the book’s outline and summary.2nd half of 14th centuryImage via Wikipedia
  3. List, on the index card, five things you want to learn by reading the book.
  4. Use the card as a bookmark and review it each time you read.
Sound simple? Yes, but as you learned from the video, focusing your attention can mean the difference between learning something specific and learning nothing at all.

Marketing on Facebook: 10 Dos and Don'ts

Facebook may have 500 million users, but having an outpost on the social-media site won’t necessarily increase sales or referrals to your website. But the right tools, used strategically, can help make Facebook an important part of your marketing, lead acquisition and customer-service strategies.
Here are some do’s and don’ts for your company’s Facebook page.
1. Do: Take advantage of Facebook Places. This location-based application allows users to “check in” — or alert their network — wherever they are. If you have a brick-and-mortar location, turn patrons into Facebook promoters by giving them freebies or specials offers if they check-in from your location, using Facebook Places. But be sure to connect your check-in page to your company page, otherwise Facebook users who click check-in links on their News Feeds and Walls will be taken to a generic Facebook page that doesn’t contain your keywords or branding.
2. Do: Use Facebook for customer service. Online support forums and live-chat services can be costly. But Facebook can help you communicate easily with customers who become your fans on the site. Facebook’s Wall, forums, status updates and other features let you answer technical and other queries, post new product upgrades or offer a frequently-asked-questions section. Additionally, your fans can help each other out.
3. Do: Go “tag” crazy. Tagging is simply to identify a Facebook user in a photo or video, an action that triggers an update to the user’s News Feeds. Tag your business and your customers in videos and photos as often as possible. Why? Tagged photos and videos, especially those tagged by your fans, have a higher likelihood of being seen by more people. If you decide to launch a Facebook promotion, try to find ways to integrate tagging into the plan.
4. Do: Befriend Facebook group administrators. Search out influencers on Facebook and offer them specials, coupons and other perks they can offer to their Facebook groups. A status update, Wall post or message from a group’s administrator will return better results than a mass message to their members from you.
5. Do: Add a well-placed “Like” button to your website and newsletters. Don’t just throw a “Like” button on your site, integrate it into the customer experience and surround it with a call to action. For example, place near your mailing-list sign-up form. Users are more likely to click a “Like” button while opting-in for a subscription. Test, track and adjust this tactic until you see results. Here is a link to some instructions to help you get started.
6. Don’t: Let your Facebook Wall be the first thing newcomers to your page see. The company page Wall is usually busy with status updates and user comments. Instead, use Facebook’s page settings to set up a “welcome” page (see “How do I change the default tab”). Make sure it inspires action. Perhaps you can post a short YouTube video about your company with a vanity URL to a big promotion website or design a custom background showing users how to sign up for your mailing list.
7. Don’t: Turn off your user comments function. If you promote your brand online, odds are good that you’ll receive some negative feedback. Whether or not these comments are warranted, your responses and communication with these individuals will demonstrate your commitment to customer service.
8. Don’t: Use the Facebook Events tab for RSVPs. If users register for events that you list on Facebook, you will not capture their data for your mailing list. Always require registrants to sign up for events on your own site.
9. Don’t: Send mass messages to your network. Most users will never even look at your messages. Should you be compelled to send a message, make sure it offers something of real value. Clearly state that value in the message subject line. Avoid general brand messages and announcements, or you’ll lose supporters.
Facebook logoImage via Wikipedia10. Don’t: Link Facebook Ads to your Facebook page. Targeted and compelling Facebook Ads may get you results. But link them to a page on your website that hosts information about the promotion and encourages users to take action in as few clicks as possible. Remember to push users from Facebook to your turf– a web page — where you control the content, environment and functionality. Doing so may provide a higher probability of converting leads into sales and acquiring consumer contact information.

Recover a Lost Laptop with Free Theft Recovery

Looking for better laptop security, but you don’t want to invest in a paid theft recovery service like Laptop Cop? There are a number of free options out there, but the newest looks pretty sharp.
LockItTight is a free service that lets you easily track your laptop via their Web site. Just install the small client app on your laptop, and LockItTight performs location tracking, automated Webcam captures, and regular screen captures every 30 minutes. You can change the frequency of the captures via the Web site as well.
The brushed aluminum back of the iPad Wi-FiImage via WikipediaThe service saves the last 1000 locations and the last 100 Webcam and screen captures, which should be plenty to accrue evidence for the police to track down the bad guys and give you your laptop back. It’s compatible with all the recent flavors of Windows, from XP onward.
LockItTight looks pretty good — the software is small and unobtrusive, and the Web site is logically designed. It’s a new service, though, and missing some features. It won’t capture keystrokes, for example (though that feature is coming) and there’s no word about remote wipes. For a more established laptop recovery service, you might want to check out Prey or LocateMyLaptop. [via AddictiveTips]

Overhaul Your Netbook with Ubuntu 10.10

Remember Jolicloud, the operating system created specifically for netbooks? It’s cool, but a bit limiting — especially for users who like to tinker, fiddle, and play with their OS.
Recently, mega-popular Linux iteration Ubuntu released version 10.10, and with it an updated Ubuntu Netbook Edition. The big news? An overhauled interface that caters to — you guessed it — netbooks.
Want to see it in action? The How-To Geek has a lovely screenshot tour of Ubuntu Netbook Edition that shows all the highlights, new features, etc. I haven’t yet had the chance to test-drive the OS myself, but I’d say it shares some of Jolicloud’s eye candy while offering a more robust, complete Linux experience. Might be just the thing for netbook users who aren’t digging their crampy, sluggish Windows install.
Ubuntu Netbook Edition is free, of course. To install it (or run it without actually installing it–a great way to “try before you buy”), you’ll need a USB flash drive with at least 2GB of free space.

Sexy and smart: one sector that won't be left behind: Japan's massive sex industry has shifted from bricks-and-mortar deflation to Internet elation - Industry Overview

LIKE IT OR LOATHE it, the sex industry in Japan is big business. And despite the rickety economy, it's getting bigger. A recent survey by Takashi Kadokura, an economist with Daiichi Life Research Institute Inc., found that the Japanese market for what is rather quaintly called the entertainment trade fuzoku sangyo, swelled to a tumescent [yen] 2.37 trillion in fiscal 2001, up from [yen] 1.7 trillion a decade earlier.
This figure does not include "virtual sex"--Japan's huge sales of adult magazines, rentals and sales of porn videos and DVDs and the burgeoning market for Internet porn. And let's not forget receipts from the country's 40,000-odd love hotels.Greater Tokyo Area is the world's most populou...Image via Wikipedia
Put together, the buying and selling of sex and related services in the world's second largest economy is worth more than the GDP of many smaller countries.
As the sex business expands along with the service sector it becomes increasingly integrated into the mainstream economy, earning billions for blue-chip firms like NTT and increasingly becoming a source of direct and indirect tax revenue for the government.
Why does this industry seem immune to the problems that have kept Japan on the economic disaster pages of the world's newspapers for over a decade? The truth is: It isn't.
As a stroll around the licentious pink heart of Tokyo's sex industry, Kabukicho, or the "soaplands" district of Yoshiwara confirms, many operators of sex clubs and massage parlors have resorted to the same deflationary price-cutting approaches practiced by other businesses.
More noticeable than the stagnation and decline of some areas of the sex trade, however, are the vitality and innovation that characterize the industry as a whole. Despite its murky image and legal problems, thousands of new businesses have sprung up in the last five years, offering all the eye popping lechery that money can buy.
